We've only just won good treatment guarantees for farm animals in the UK. Do not make these laws worthless with thoughtless trade deals with Australia and the USA etc

I thought the whole point of Brexit would mean we'd be buying British, from British farmers not from US or Australia!! What was the point about banging on about the carbon footprint and environmental issues!

I’m signing because the government said they cared about animal welfare yet standards in Australia are much lower than here.

We cannot accept meat produced with lower standards than our own. It’s barbaric.

Our animal welfare and hygiene standards are second to none. The Government will have the wrath of the entire country if they agree to go ahead with this

Animal welfare standards ON PAPER in the UK are supposed to be high. But with the cuts in Environmental Health Officers and Government veterinary services standards are pathetically poor especially in halal slaughterhouses and Turkey and chicken factory farms. Make the supervision of HIGH STANDARDS in the UK, like CCTV in ALL slaughterhouses and abattoirs compulsory and give out meaningful prison sentences when there is abuse and law breaking. Shameful enough we kill innocent infant animals but to cause unnecessary terror, fear, assaults and painful drawn out deaths is against the laws in place but not punished!

It is vital for the health of the general public, who would buy the cheapest product, unaware of the origin and treatment of the animals and meat, or unwittingly in a restaurant or processed food setting.
It is also better for our environmental health not to use hormones, antibiotics or pesticides on animals enabling overcrowding and overproduction.
