Simply to educate the buying public as to what their options are, people aren't aware of the carbon footprint of the products they buy and so they are not being given a choice to decide how they want to shop or how they want to behave to help the climate crisis. If each product was labelled with a rating or traffic light system then the choice is provided and the issue is given a chance of improving. It will be a surprise to many millions as to how their purchases are affecting the environment. The large profit making companies will in turn have to review and change their supply chains, in doing so they should support the products that the public would be telling them to support by their buying choices.
