George Eustice : defend our right to protest

George Eustice : defend our right to protest
Why this petition matters
As a community organisation that believes in solving issues through direct action, ACORN fully supports the Kill The Bill movement and we are calling on Environment Secretary, and MP for Camborne, Redruth & Hayle, George Eustice to oppose the bill and stand up for the people of Cornwall.
Protest is a human right that the government is trying to take away. This bill threatens people's right to free speech and ultimately people's ability to effect political, social and economic change. Its nature impacts a lot of what ACORN does, such as defending our members from landlords and letting agents.
A bill like this only serves to protect the interests of those who are already in power, putting the needs/wants of the rich over those of ordinary people.
We cannot allow the government and police to determine what causes "annoyance" by letting them push through a racist, authoritarian piece of legislation that the people clearly disagree with. Our elected politicians have a responsibility to make sure democracy is upheld and we are listened to.
Therefore we demand that George Eustice do the following:
1) Release a statement of unequivocal support for peaceful protest.
2) Pledge that he will do everything in his power that is necessary to keep Cornish constituents safe from police violence and intrusive surveillance tactics during G7.
3) Oppose the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill.
