Government inquiry into nonprofit organsations.

According to the QUT The Not for Profit Sector in Australia: Fact Sheet there are around 600,000 nonprofits in Australia.
Australia has a population of 24 million. Unless my maths is failing that means 1 organization for every 40 people. Surely that sounds crazy even to a politician. Some of these organizations are receiving millions of dollars every year. They are tax free and many also receive government funding.
The majority of these organizations are not charities. It is easy for unsavory characters to either embed themselves into a group in a stealthy manner or create their own with little effort.
Australian charities at risk of being exploited ‘to fund terror’ According to the Australian on August 10, link (http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/australian-charities-at-risk-of-being-exploited-to-fund-terror/news-story/2591719adfc22aac536839f5f75c20db with Australian funding halted to World Vision due to terrorism funding in Palestine.
There are some who are engaged in humanitarian causes worthy of decoration while there are others who are funded by overseas interests and spend millions creating social unrest.
None of this will change without an inquiry to weed out the scams and allow the cream to rise to the top.
