Although many things need to be protested, there are a myriad of legal ways to voice your displeasure, and they should be used.

the university students have always had zero respect for the people who make their home and living in the santa cruz area.

Blocking of Highway 17 by these students caused me to be 45 minutes late to a doctor's appointment in Aptos.

The selfishness these students showed, holding innocent people hostage because they wanted to have a public temper tantrum. They should be made an example of and thrown in jail the max applicable time.

These students showed a complete disregard for the residents and businesses of Santa Cruz County by their disruptive method of protesting. I might have been more sympathetic to their problem if they had made their displeasure known without endangering lives and the livelihoods of the entire community. They did not behave as a part of the community, they behaved as petulant children throwing a tantrum without taking into account the many consequences of their actions. They should not be allowed back to UCSC to further instigate disruptive protests that alienate potential supporters of what UCSC truly stands for.

Because these people should have been taken to trial and given the maximum penalty. It's a joke what they had handed to them as a punishment. Too bad law enforcement has to deal with such scum. Sad thing is they hate law enforcement, but as soon as they need help, they will be calling and law enforcement has to show up to help these idiots.
