For years, residents of Brgy. Sinawal, Diversion road area, have been taken demanding installation of street lights in their locality, but the government hasn’t taken any steps to ensure street lights in the area.
Roads are dark and lack of visibility post sunset, especially when it’s raining. Street lights are important to reduce crime and to ensure, our safety and security especially women and children. There are enough of crimes in this area, thefts but most of the time car accidents. Residents are tired of trying to reach out to local authorities, who make false promises and take no action.

Streets especially in dark areas needs lighting for security and safety reasons. People knew that danger always happen mostly in the dark areas so it is very important to put lights in these areas. Putting lights increases the quality of life, they can walk and travel all along in these streets, despite of the dark. Street lightings can be very useful and at the same time very helpful, not just to the drivers or riders but also for all of us.
In line with these, the purpose of this petition of putting streetlights plays an important role in public safety. For it can lessen accidents especially at night, it prevents crimes, and protect people against violent accidents. Literally, we have no sunshine at night time but we can have lights to see the things around.

Our campaign talks about the implementation of the streetlights on the diversion road in Barangay Fatima General Santos City. We all know that lack of lights promote different bad things to the society, that’s why this concept paper moves to enlighten the government of General Santos especially the LGU of the said place to put on some streetlights to help lessen the accident during night time and the crime rate as well.

The campaign will take a few weeks for it to develop. Finances with regard to the materials needed like the bulb and posts will be provided by the local government. Donations from other sources are very much welcome in our petition. Resources like printing letters are provided by the petitioners. Also, free services from Facebook and Wordpress will be used in the campaign promotion.
