Politicians are increasingly using lockdowns despite the long term health and economic devastation they cause. They are no longer the nuclear option of last resort are used because successive governments have failed in the area of NHS resources and Public health in general. If politicians impose lockdowns, their salaries should be frozen entirely for the duration of the lockdown, to acknowledge the hardship and sacrifices they have imposed on the population.
