Stop Jeffersonville High Schools sexist dress code!
For years girls in my school district have been fighting the dress code, yet we still see no change. The dress code at Jeffersonville high school was just recently edited to take the word "girls" out of it when describing the lengths of skirts. This means nothing. girls are still being targeted and forced to change because our clothes are 'too distracting". A teenage girls body is "too distracting". I had a friend tell me that she got dress coded because she was wearing a crop top but the guy right next to her wasn't and he was wearing a tank top. Freshman year I was forced to change because my shirt was longer than my shorts. My body was covered but because it looked like I "wasn't wearing pants" I had to change. The school is targeting and shaming teenage girls bodies!!! GROWN ADULTS are looking at teenage girls bodies and saying "that shows too much skin" , "that shirt is too low" , "That outfit distracts boys". The school is sexualizing children and no one is doing anything about it! so if your with me and want this ideology of girls bodies being distracting to change sign my petition.
