So much homophobia and transphobia is overlooked at Woodstock Middle School+Woodstock High School. Thousands of students suffer from it every day, and yet we do nothing? The queer students of these schools need a safe place. According to NewPortAcademy, LGBTQ+ teens are over 3 times more likely to commit suicide than heterosexual and cis peers. Would you really want a 13 year old to commit suicide just because they don’t have that safe place? Lots of kids and teens apart of this community are not aware of how much support they could be getting. 

It’s not just for queer kids, either. Heterosexual and cis students are welcome to G.S.A.C. This could help so many students to be educated and informed on the complicated situation of being gay. Some people have it more simple than others, and some don’t. It’s extremely hard to live when you feel like everyone around you is telling you that you're wrong for being who you are. 

Being a queer person is never an abnormality, it’s just not normalized. Just because homophobic and transphobic traditions have told everyone is that it is wrong does NOT mean that it is. Why can’t we change these archaic practices and mindsets? Why can’t teachers respect people’s pronouns? Why must students judge us for something as simple as loving the same gender? 

What we are asking for is simple, and it could change and save so many lives.
