I work in an early years setting and absolutely love my job! All myself and my colleagues want to do is protect and nurture the little lives in our care. But at what cost? Tonight Boris Johnson announced a further national lockdown which includes the closure of all schools to all but vulnerable and key worker children, but crucially, not early years settings. We can carry on as normal! Now ours is not the biggest setting but including all staff and children that means 52 households are in contact with each other. 52!!! Why aren't early years being treated the same as Schools? We can still get the virus, our families can still get the virus and we can spread it on. Why are we not under the same set of rules as the rest of the education sector? Early years should only be open for vulnerable and key worker children.
