Great Britain is now at alert Level 5 (red) and ALL primary and secondary schools are now CLOSED. University Students should NOT return to campus and will be taught online. HOWEVER, Boris Johnson and Gavin Williamson have deemed Early Years settings safe to remain open! Although the risk to children getting seriously ill from Covid is apparently low, what about the health and safety of the Early Years staff members that care for and educate them and are therefore at high risk of transmitting Covid?  Early Years staff CANNOT socially distance themselves from the young children in their settings! It is totally unacceptable that yet another government announcement has been made without reference to any scientific evidence explaining how those working in the Early Years are expected to be able to keep themselves and their loved ones safe, at a time when those in schools are being told that it is simply to dangerous to go to work. 
As a deputy manager of an Early Years setting, I am extremely concerned for the safety of the children and staff in my setting at this time. 
I therefore ask you to sign this petition to be sent to Gavin Williamson M.P.  in support of all Early Years settings being closed inline with all other educational settings at this time.
