Hello all,

My name is Adam, I am 18 years old

For 11 years I was a victim of bullying within both my primary and secondary school and this impacted my mental health severly for example I developed OCD and anxiety I had a low self esteem and low confidence, I began self harming and I was suicidal, my mental health impacted my ability to concentrate in class and therefore effected my education. I believe that bullying should be paid more attention to within schools and pupils should know the effects that there actions have on their peer's mental health that's why I'm asking for one week a year to go towards educating pupils about mental health and why difference among people is beneficial for communities and how they can be more accepting of difference amongst their peers and how to spot symptoms of mental health issues within themselves and there peers before it's too late. I firmly believe that this would benefit many young people who may be bullied and have their education impacted upon by their mental health caused by bullying. Forms of mental health problems that occur due to bullying is: anorexia anxiety depression OCD and in extreme cases PTSD. 1 in every 5 days a child under 13 takes there own life due too bullying and mental health issues associated with bullying. I ask u to try to prevent other young people going through what I and many others already have we cannot change the past but we can change the future.
