Maddy Mullion started this petition to Governor Gavin Newsom

Since March 2020, students of California public schools have been out of school. They transitioned from in person learning to being taught through a computer screen. Students across the state have struggled with this change, whether it is internet connectivity issues, declining grades or missing the social interactions. It has negatively affected the mental, physical, educational and social well being of children in all regions of the state. As a senior in high school it has been so difficult for me to see students across the nation back in school, playing sports, attending activities while we are all sitting at home looking at our computer screens. Governor Newsom has mishandled the situation from the start. He is constantly changing the requirements for school districts to get children safely back in the classroom. He has went from a color coded scheme by county to a regional scheme and his latest direction removes waivers, changes the safety protocols and changes the number scheme once again. As students, parents, grandparents, families and citizens of a state that once put such a high value on education, we need to let our governor know that enough is enough. Please sign this petition to let Governor Newsom know we want our children safely back to school now.
