Geoffrey Brown received two charges for a fatal car accident while driving fast on Highway 67 in Ramona in 2003. Vehicular Manslaughter and Second Degree Murder. California is the only state that does this. Drugs and alcohol were not a factor. Now that he has served his time the Board made the decision to keep him another 5 years because of information in his file that was not corrected and information that was missing in time for Board.  Geoffrey Brown was kept on morphine and opiates for 6 years instead of giving him a surgery that was needed as a result of the accident.  This has had damaging effect on him physically and mentally.  He got himself off of the morphine and suffered the pain of a damaged shoulder in need of a replacement.  He has not had any write ups for 7 years. He is an artist and a musician, teaches guitar. He wrote a beginners guitar booklet with a broken hand. He has served his time, 18 years and completed all the groups and programs requested of him. He wants to be a productive member of society, has full family support and support from his church family.  He has been a co-facilitator in the GOGI program and mentored others. Please give him the opportunity he has earned and allow him to be home with his family.
