Why this petition matters

Started by Alex L

There are many problems and issues around police brutality and accountability across the country and within the State of California, especially with no regard to the Black community that led to the recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery. The people continue to hear messages of empathy with no action. Governor Newsom has rose to the challenge in prior crises, such as the fires that have ravaged California in past years. When it comes to continued brutality and senseless violence against the citizens, we must hold those in power to account for the continued misdeeds and actions. Making our voices heard in the street has only led to more violence by law enforcement, and no action from our leadership to real comprehensive reforms.

As citizens, we need to end the "news cycle protests", where the people go to the streets, the politicians send their messages of support, no real reform is made, and we continue to live the with broken systems currently in place.

That is why I propose we hit the politicians where it matters, their positions in political office. Please sign this petition to begin the process of recalling California Governor Gavin Newsom until he commits to a concrete action plan to reform policing behavior.

Politicians will continue to ignore us and maintain the status quo until we show that we will remove them from office.

Please share this petition with your friends, family, and on social media. I cannot say how hopeful and meaningful the sacrifice that we are making to get your voices heard in the streets, online, on social media, and at the ballot box at election time.

If you share on social media, get the word out by using the hashtag #reformorrecall
