My name is Daniel Sandoval and I am serving life without parole (LWOP) for murder/robbery. At the time of the crime I was 22 years old living a very destructive lifestyle of violence and drugs. It was all I knew since I lived in a drug and gang infested neighborhood. I made terrible choices starting at the age of 14 with unfortunately making the choice to join a gang and began indulging in drugs.

This is the first time I have ever been in prison. I am now 40 years old and can honestly say I am a completely changed man. The life of destruction I once lived is far behind me as I am on the path to complete change for myself and family. All these years in prison have shown me all of the immense pain and suffering this crime caused which has pushed me to transform. I continue daily on my path of change and rehabilitation by attending self help classes and developing insight into my life. I counsel the younger incoming inmates who are also in prison for the first time. I try to be an example to them so that they can learn from me and my mistakes.

I am drug free and I have been discipline-free for 5 years by continuing on that path of good behavior. I work in culinary and have been doing that for two years which has gotten me recognized as an outstanding worker by my supervisors with One of them recently stating "Mr. Sandoval has always been respectful to the supervisors and his fellow workers. He is self motivated, responsible and a reliable worker. He is always willing to lend a hand and is an asset to our team. It is a privilege to have him work here."

I have received much praise for my change in character and I am proud of the improvement with who I have become. I would like you to take time out to see the change as well and would like the second chance to prove myself.
