It has been studied and proven time and time again how imperative it is for inmates to receive visits from loved ones. Human interaction not only provides emotional support it greatly aids the integration back into society by developing social skills and emotional reconnection. The VSA system that was recently implemented is flawed. Every prison in CA has the same timeframe for visiting signups making in almost impossible to schedule an appointment. It freezes or simply does not confirm appointments due to system overload. Families are going months not seeing loved ones. The pandemic has already affected so many. It’s a problem that can be remedied and is a win for all involved. Please fix VSA and allot different time frames for the prisons. We all need this.
