Marc Krell started this petition to Governor Gavin Newsom

CA AB5 was passed 9/18/19 before the economic impact of the pandemic was a thought in anyone's mind. It attempted to protect gig-economy workers but failed to exempt any small businesses and instead became a suffocating force for small businesses who could no longer subcontract work to independent contractors.

This law been negatively impacting many CA industries since day one, but there is now a pressing need to keep our small businesses and our state economy alive! Restricting the ability of small businesses to grow is NOT the way to do this.

This petition pushes for the California government to create an exemption to this law for small businesses that make under $1,000,000 in annual revenue so that they can both spread money around our state economy by offering work to independent contractors and remain flexible enough to weather the economic storm we are in. Keeping small businesses healthy will help create a healthy California in the long run and this simple change in the law costs the California economy nothing to enact.

Governor Newsom, please take action NOW urging the government to pass this exemption so that we can all do our part to repair the state economy! Small businesses need your leadership more than ever!

We are not alone in this feedback!
