Advocating for access to healthy food for all families and especially children in San Jose, CA.

Food insecurity is defined as insufficient food access due to financial resources. This issue: food insecurity affects families and children who reside in the San Jose area. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), families have been impacted resulting in cutting down work hours or losing their jobs. This directly correlates to children and their need to eat healthy food. Parents who are experiencing job loss and other financial challenges are in need of food banks. Programs such as Calfresh are vital for this issue and the use of food banks as well. 

Solution:

Having access to Calfresh and food banks means families can obtain food to provide for their children. However, these programs need to be culturally competent and be usable at all local grocery stores.  Children need food to perform well in school, sport, and in life. This is an essential need!
