It is getting excessively common these days for civilians to impersonate Servicemen and Veterans and to wear medals and awards they are not entitled too.

The increasing numbers of these people (also known as Walt’s) are alarming and have caused much anguish amongst our Veterans over the years and as even caused a lot of them to boycott remembrance services all over the country. Resulting in great distress to many Veterans and their families.

Most recently publicised was the story of Mr David Stocks who wore a George’s Cross at the Chester service of remembrance and even the The Victoria Cross and George Cross Association said he is not one of the 19 living recipients. But he insists that he was awarded it. So when is this all going to stop?

Surely our Government can draw up a law to prevent this from happening. The US government have put in place a Stolen Valor Act, so why can’t ours do the same and make this growing problem a crime with severe penalties.
