Demand 350.org be stripped of its charity status

Dear Gary Johns,

It's time environmental activist group 350.org is held accountable for promoting unlawful activities and engaging in activities contradicting their original purpose.

In the Jan 6th 2018 article in the Australian you've said "My job is to apply the law, and advocacy is a charitable purpose when taken in conjunction with other charitable purposes,"

350.org have strayed far from their original intentions as a charity. They are merely a disruptive force, perpetuating fear and misinformation in order to solicit donations from the unknowing community who care about positive change.

The abhorrent actions of 350.org Australian chief executive Blair Palese encouraging protestors to get arrested is irresponsible and dangerous to the wider community at best.

This sort of behaviour, and their lack of transparency reflects badly on the rest of the industry and negatively impacts others work in this field.

Registered charities should not participate in or encourage unlawful activity, unfortunately, this is what 350.org is guilty of, and they are giving other Australian charities a bad name.

350.org Australian chief executive Blair Palese has urged protestors to get arrested instead of protesting peacefully, she has encouraged people to break the law, increasing the potential of community members being placed in risky situations and the real possibility of people being harmed. This is not ok.

Until 350.org cease encouraging their activists to get arrested and cause havoc, they should be stripped of their charity status.

Thank you for your time
