Reduce Rates back to 4.9% as mentioned in the Wairoa Star
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
The rates have gone up more than the 4.9% mentioned in the Wairoa Star. There are many in Wairoa who cant afford to pay an increase of 11% in rates as they are on low or fixed incomes. My mother and sister for instance, my mother is retired and my sister is on a sickness benefit. Not only has their rates gone up for their home but they don't qualify for the rebate as they make too much money. The other people who will be affected are those who rent. When the landlords get a rate increase the rent will also rise.
What I would also like to know is:
- Why are the rates so high?
- Why is it so hard for people to get rebates when they are on fixed or low income?
- Why is it so hard to get this information when there is suppose to be a transparent running of this council
- Where is the money going? In detail.
If we get these answers maybe we can understand what is happening within our own council and what can be done to fix any problems.
If we don't we could have a run away council governing us into the poor house.
Come on and join us. Help us get the information we need to make informed decisions.
