Liv Pascione started this petition to Gap Inc. and

Dear petition signers, students, and to whomever else this may concern,

We would like to start by acknowledging that there have been over 540 reports from workers at Gap Inc.  between January and May this past year. All of these reports are about abusive incidents in Gap factories. Workers in the Myanmar factory are reporting abuse by supervisors, inconsistent rules, unpaid checks, as well as several health/safety violations. Most of these workers are also being forced to work long overtime hours without paid breaks. Additionally, female workers for Gap are facing the "daily reality" of sexist abuse ranging from gendered bullying to slapping to rape.

However, the top representatives at Gap have not responded to any of these claims. And to add on to this, the harassment and unfair treatment has yet to stop. Supposedly, this is because Gap is using subcontracts to get out of monitoring. Because of this, it is up to us, the clients to take a stance. Although some say that Gap is enhancing working conditions more than compared to a few years ago, there are still many aspects (like the ones above) that still need to be improved. The rights that are being violated include the UDHR rights for freedom from torture and degrading treatment, the right to equality, the right to desirable work, and more. What can you do about it? Sign this petition! Signing this petition will raise awareness and can receive notice from the managers at Gap Inc.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support in our cause. We hope that you sign this petition and we thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

Olivia Pascione and Fiona Hayes

By signing this letter, you approve of the whole content and wish to help create change in Gap's factories. You want to help give workers security, protection, and a hope for the future.

Looking for more ways to grant these workers with more rights? You can also start avoiding Gap's name brand when shopping - at least until they start to make positive changes.

Thank you again!
