We the students of Gann Academy call on the Gann Arts Department as well as other faculty and staff to keep Lindsay Metivier a current teacher at Gann and continue her job teaching.
Lindsay is an amazing teacher and human being. She teaches us more than just how to take pictures; rather, how to view and experience the world from different angles. In addition to teaching two black and white classes, two photojournalism classes, and digital design, Lindsay also runs yearbook, shows us different graphic design techniques, and takes grade portraits and pictures of school events. She has opened up her office at school as well as her gallery in JP, making them feel both to some as though they are a second or third home. Lindsay is much more than a photography teacher. She is an advisor, a mentor, a club leader, a friend.
In the words of Sally Mann, a well known black and white photographer, "Photographs open doors into the past, but they also allow a look into the future.” We must allow ourselves to look into the future, and envision our school with a thriving visual arts program.
