Why this petition matters

Dear Management of Gandhi Memorial Intercontinental School in Bali and Jakarta,

We would like to share our views regarding the tuition fees that are to be paid for the upcoming school year (2020 - 2021).

We obviously are all aware of the current worldwide crisis situation with Covid-19 virus pandemic and the specific ramifications as applied to our shared educational relationship.  It is well known and understood that this crisis has caused massive financial and economic hardship on many businesses and families alike.  There is no telling when this situation will end and there is a great deal of uncertainty for all of us.  As time progresses the situational burdens for institutions, businesses and families have proven to become increasingly difficult and have given cause a variety of creative solutions to be yielded that can effect successful compromises within our given parameters so that a semblance of normalcy can be maintained as we manage our way through this difficult period.

Since the implementation of the work from home online learning initiatives via the ZOOM and Google Classroom medium, it’s clear that the schools’ operational costs have decreased significantly along with the overall level of education the students are receiving on a day to day basis.  That is not to say that the content of the online classes is necessarily poor, however, the overall level of education does not come close to what the students would normally receive if they were to attend school as normal.

Since students have been required to learn from home since March 2020, it is our expectation that the school will reduce tuition fees from March to June that can be compensated to the next year’s tuition.  Some other schools have already implemented policies to reduce school fees since March. We are not asking for a discount on the current term but do expect substantial reductions for the upcoming semester commensurate with salary reductions and lower operational costs incurred by the institution.

We thank you for your serious attention to this matter and urge for you to take the issues presented under serious consideration.  Our hope is that an amicable resolution may be reached so that there is no need for a disruption for the children and that students may continue their education with GMIS.

Sincerely,
