Students of Galen College of Nursing - Louisville started this petition to Galen College of Nursing - Louisville Campus and

Galen College of Nursing - Louisville recently received $9,167,121 as a part of the government's CARES Act fund. However, they required their students to apply for eligibility to receive their piece of the pie which, on average, was around $600-$800 per person. A majority of larger institutions in the area received less money than Galen but, they gave each of their students $1,000 and reduced tuition fees without question when they moved to online learning. Galen did not reduce their tuition costs even though we are primarily on ZOOM for classes. And now with our second quarter of digital education underway, we are told that the students who received grant money last quarter are not eligible to receive it again this quarter despite any hardships they are facing.

All of the nursing students at Galen are experiencing financial hardships. Most of us have had to take on extra expenses, such as more expensive internet packages and new computers, just so we could continue our education and pursuing our dream career in nursing. There are only 4,000 students that attend Galen's Louisville campus and less than 200 faculty and staff members. $9.1 million is more than enough to pay out everyone $1,000 at least twice.

The students at Galen in Louisville would like to petition the Dean, Bursar, and Financial Aid department to release more funds for students regardless of them receiving grant money previously and to provide an itemized receipt of where their grant money went to. Please sign this petition to help us get the financial help that we all need in order to continue our education.
