Expand Harbor Bay Ferry Parking

Parking options at the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal are grossly inadequate. The 250 car lot is completely full long before the 7:30am and 8:30am ferries depart for San Francisco. On August 1, new parking restrictions on neighboring streets further amplify the serious parking problems here. Rather than defer or ignore this issue, WE DEMAND that our city officials and WETA work together to expand parking options at the terminal that will address the ever growing ferry ridership at Harbor Bay.
The vast majority of Harbor Bay ferry riders are people who commute to San Francisco for work. The "4 Fast Ways to the ferry" of biking, busing, walking or Uber are not adequate long-term solutions, especially for working parents taking the later ferry boats who must manage young children in schools with set drop-off and pick-up times. Year by year, Alameda's population continues to grow. New residents are flocking to the island for its amazing community and proximity to San Francisco jobs.
If Alameda is to be a truly progressive city, it needs to have feasible/reliable mass transit and parking solutions that adequately meet demands.
