I'm signing because it seems absolutely ridiculous to shut down such an amazing program!!! I'm sorry Tony but there are so many others things that you can take money from aka Defence!!! Please stop wasting money on things we don't want.

I'm signing because young women deserve a safe place to go. A place where their abusers can't get them and they can have a warm bed to sleep in. America may have its own problems and make big deals out of things the rest of the world thinks are small, but I do know if you tried cutting funding for shelters that helped the homeless escape from abusers or gave them a safe place to live in the United States, we would take to the streets. I'm hoping the Australian government is really humane. However, by shutting down centers for homeless young women and teenagers to live safely in--is extremely inhumane. It shows you don't care about your people. It shows you don't care about young women and girls in an environment where the only way out is to find a safe place--such as as a homeless center like this, live on the streets where they have a small chance for survival or stay with their abusers who would most likely kill them eventually. Please be rational about this. Let this project survive. Show the people of Sydney you do indeed care about them.

A service like this should not be closed but supported and used as an example of how other agencies can help young women in need of support.

I am signing this petition because young women in crisis due to sexual violence and exploitation need a safe and secure place to call home, to heal, to breath so they move forward and reach their potential. All young women in this country deserve to be supported and protected if they are at risk. We are, as a community diminished if we allow these essential services to disappear.

It's not just important that Lillian's housing and funding is re-instated, it's absolutely, vitally important that the work and care provided in the traum-informed environment of Lillian's by the specialist staff employed at Lillian's continues. The young people who have in the past, and who are currently in the care of the dedicated workers at Lillian's actually can't return to a home, because their homes aren't safe. It would be a wonderful thing if all young people had safe homes to which they might return, as the GOSH policy envisages, but the sad reality is that this is not the case for all young people, and we must, I emphasise must, accept this. Therefore, I would ask Minister Upton that she personally take responsibility for the reinstatement of funding and housing so that the work currently being done for young people at Lillian's can continue, and so that young people in the future who will similarly face the same needs be also able to be assisted. Thanks you, Lyn Stevenson
