Stay the Execution of Keith Tharpe

In 3 days Keith Tharpe is set to be executed. A white juror who voted to give Tharpe the death penalty openly admitted that he chose to vote for execution because Tharpe was black.
As an opposer of the death penalty, I am against any execution, no matter the situation. This, however, is a case in which even those who believe execution is justified, can see why his execution should be stayed. Keith Tharpes constitutional right to an unbiased jury was compromised. He must be granted clemency and a retrial.
Even if he is guilty, this execution cannot go through. What is at stake is not only this man's life, but the proposition that no black person should be sentenced to death by a juror who boasts that he voted to impose capital punishment because the defendant was a “nigger.”
Call on Governor Deal and chairman of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles James W. Mills to stay the execution of Keith Tharpe, by signing this petition. Together we can make our voice heard.
