Funding for CGM's for Over 21's

Constant Glucose Monitors (CGM's) make a huge difference in diabetic management. Recently, the Australian Government has agreed to fund CGM's for medically approved patients under the age of 21.
While this is a step in the right direction, I truly believe that this should be made available to all Type 1 diabetics, adults included. The cost of diabetes is so high; for most, a CGM is just too expensive.
The monitors - sometimes called transmitters - cost between $1000 - $1400. These usually have a life of twelve months. On top of this, the sensors cost $370 for a pack of four. These sensors are recommended for one week, which means that patients must pay over $90 per week just to prevent life-threatening low blood sugar levels (hypos) or high blood sugars.
As you can see, these costs quickly add up. This isn't even taking into account the cost of insulin, doctors appointments, and other unavoidable expenses.
Please sign this petition to help adult Type 1 diabetics live a life without fear of hypos.
