Say NO to High Density Housing in North Fullerton
This petition had 583 supporters
This past year over 1,500 high density residential units in Fullerton have either been constructed, approved for construction, or are in the approval process. This includes the current proposal by Melia Homes to build 40 high density residential units on a mere 3.3 acres on the old St. Jude Medical Heritage Health buildings site at the corner of Bastanchury and Morelia Road. Cars routinely travel in excess of the posted 50 mph speed limit on this stretch of Bastanchury, which has proven to become both dangerous and unsafe for pedestrian, cyclist and equestrian traffic. And this is definitely NOT an appropriate or suitable site for residential housing for families, especially those with young children, which are expected to reside in this proposed housing. This intersection has already seen 18 accidents since 2010. This includes two fatalities, four hit and runs and ten with injuries requiring immediate medical attention. Enough is enough!
The net effect of high density housing in this area will create even more traffic congestion, gridlock, bottlenecks and accidents, something we are already plagued with on a poorly engineered road. Additionally, it will alter the unique landscape and more rural character and charm of this area - an area known for its low density housing, equestrian property and tree lined streets.
Please sign this Petition and urge the Fullerton City Council to say NO to high density housing developments. Be sure to have your spouse sign, as well, as this will double the number of signatures. If we continue on this path the quality of our daily lives will forever be altered. Our safety and the safety of our children needs to be a priority.
We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the adverse impacts that would result from this proposal and any other future high-density housing projects in this area, and say NO to this project by Melia Homes.
