PLEASE ONLY FUHSD STUDENTS SIGN

This petition is for the purposes of moving the FUHSD Wednesday schedule to Monday. 

FUHSD teachers voted for a schedule change for the new 2021-2022 school year. The All-Classes Wednesday Schedule won out by a slim margin. We feel the student body should have been represented in this vote.

Here are a few reasons why we should implement the All-Classes Monday Schedule:

All-Classes Monday serves as an introduction to new concepts for the week:

• Provides introduction to material before jumping into an intense block period

• Serves as a check-in for all classes
• Provides an outline of work/concepts/plans for the rest of the week

All-Classes Monday provides a tutorial period:

• Allows students to ask questions after the weekend and before instruction starts
• Useful for catching up on missed work/assessments before other work is assigned

All-Classes Wednesday are often used as a testing period:

• Students must study on Tuesday night instead of having the weekend to study for an All-Classes Monday Schedule

All-Classes Wednesday means that everything is due Wednesday:

• Study/work on Tuesday night instead of weekend
• On Tuesday, students have homework from both block days due the next day, which creates an unreasonable time crunch to complete work

According to FUHSD Administration, the All-Classes Wednesday schedule was meant to serve as a relaxed non-instructional day where students could self-study for their classes. Few teachers have used Wednesday periods this way, and many teachers are unable to due to the rigor of their courses, especially in the case of AP classes. 

Our Goal:

We would like to move the All-Classes schedule from Wednesday to Monday for the 2nd semester. While an earlier move is preferential, we understand that changing the schedule partway through the semester is unnecessarily challenging.
