We want a safe learning environment at Fresno State
The majority of students at Fresno State want to be able to attend their classes virtually until covid cases decline and our hospitals aren't so overwhelmed.
According to the LA times, the current positivity rate for covid in Fresno county is over 30 and one in four people in this county have contracted covid. Many of us either currently have covid or have family members with covid that we must tend to. This is important to consider because when classes are in person students can't afford to miss class. So many students end up going to school while sick and exposing their unsuspecting peers.
In the US there have been nearly a million cases a day for multiple consecutive weeks and it would be incredibly irresponsible to force the students to be in person when we could simply continue our education online. Students should never have to choose between their health and their academic future, especially when there are viable alternatives.
