Raise the funding for the Choir and Orchestra Programs at Lindbergh High School by 35%
The orchestra and choir programs are underfunded. We have five teachers to cover nine different schools of strings and orchestra students. We have three teachers to cover three different schools of choir students. These programs rarely, if ever, go on any trips or have any opportunities to perform at school events, as the bands do. If we had more funding, we could have better instruments, equipment, and bring in other musicians to help tutor our students who can't get private lessons on their own. With more funding, we could also go on more trips to get the Lindbergh spirit into the world and celebrate our school's wonderful music programs. We would also LOVE to be able to hire new teachers to ease the workload of our teachers; all of which in orchestra teach strings students at a minimum of two different schools every day, along with running multiple extra-curricular activities and organizing our classes. If we had better funding, we could have more opportunities to work with more professionals and expand our knowledge of music.
Why should one group have the chance to grow and expand into other areas of the school when others only have one rehearsal room and no chances to perform for anyone other than parents? Why should two groups be so underfunded and take on budget cuts while another group gets two extra teachers?
We hope you choose to sign with us in support of the orchestra and choir groups and to better Lindbergh's already fantastic music programs. In order to make this change, we need to show Lindbergh just how much we care about our music programs. Sign with us!
