New York is full of people who want to help. Some are grouping on their own to send Fresh Direct to these distribution centers. I am certain more people will contribute if they have the added convenience of purchasing smaller amounts that can accumulate and be delivered when possible.
Distribution centers are providing food (hot meals as well as non-perishable) to hurricane victims who need it the most (e.g. Coney Island, L.E.S., Red Hook, The Rockaways, Staten Island).
I only recommend Occupy specifically because, if you haven't heard, Occupy Sandy is running everything on the ground, the Red Cross is scarce in NYC and the NYPD and FEMA ask Occupy for guidance. But of course it would be great to open this program up to any address that asks for it! Including points in New Jersey!

Major Centers in NYC are:
5406 4th Ave (St. Jacobi's Church)
520 Clinton Avenue (Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew)
Please help us help each other.
(Updated: I see that Freshdirect is working with City Harvest to donate food, but there is still a desperate need on the ground, donators will enjoy the added intimacy of directly selecting meals and the GREATER ACCOUNTABILITY in light of public concerns relating to application of charity resources.)
