Booyeembara Park to have dog exercise areas
This petition had 327 supporters
Booyeembara Park is a beautiful park in Fremantle that is used by all sorts of people in the area, far and wide. Recently Fremantle Council have stuck signs everywhere saying the whole park is dogs on leads only.
The majority of Freo dog owners are responsible people. Yes we have other parks and beaches that we can take our dogs to, without being on a lead... But this park is a local park for the whole community. It is a place that I and so many other have enjoyed taking our dogs over many years. I want all our kids, our dogs, the elderly, everyone to respectively enjoy and share our parks.
This is a petition to make our park similar to that of Piney Lakes. This is another beautiful park with an abundance of wildlife surrounding a pond that mixes all of our family members including our dogs with the wildlife. Piney lakes have respectful signs showing where you can have dogs off leash, where they are required to be on a leash and where they are prohibited. They are friendly signs and not insulting to the responsible dog owners that we are.
Piney Lakes Dog Area Map Link - this is a link to show you the signs at Piney Lakes that I am asking Fremantle Council to have similar signs to be installed at the entrances to Booyeembara Park.
At Booyeembara Park we could have the following areas that could be used as dogs off the lead being:
- The large grassed area beside the olive trees and golf course.
- The unsealed paths that are fenced off to the wildlife.
