Sick and tired of the Fremantle Council using our public owned land for political virtue signaling purposes and blocking off families from using the amenity. I am also fed up with our City owned assets being sold off and not replaced with income generating replacements.

If this council had a platform called: "Residents Last", or "Facilitators for Developers" then they wouldn't seem nuts - Selling the Leisure centre land is a residents last policy - but the Council staff appear to have free parking - including at the Leisure Centre - they have a locked gate car park opposite the Arts centre next to the indoor pool - so they restrict residents parking but apparently have free unrestricted parking themselves.

Governments must stop selling public assets for a short gain. Once sold you never will have it again. The money you will never see.

I'm appalled that the needs of the community for amenities such as the Leisure Centre are being overwhelmed by the desire of the council to make money from the sale of the Leisure Centre parking area thus rendering it unusable. What's next - the possible sale thereafter of the Leisure Centre? Swimmers and Gymmers unite!

Fremantle also needs to make more of its own land available for green spaces and child friendly places. The playground near the library in Kings sq often had small family/friend/child groups even though it was very small and not so welcoming. We need bigger areas with more vegetation to help cool the areas. Even if people are just passing buy it is a calming influence

I feel the private sell off of public land is NOT in Fremantle's best interest and solves no problems for us nor does it provide us with any benefit

What is owned by the public is not for sale to the highest bidder because any particular parliamentarian has an inability to balance their books.
Reality is, that such an act is theft and should be treated as such by the police.

I am concerned that public land should never be sold to developers.

If this is Dept of Housing land I'd be watchful - it has changed a lot and "community" is contestable now.
