Freedom for Incarcerated & Illegally Incarcerated

Freedom for Incarcerated & Illegally Incarcerated
Every single day in New York, there are a multitude of arrests. Though many of them are done legally - most of them are not.
Since November 3rd 2021, my someone dear to me has been illegally incarcerated. On that day, he was picked up by the warrant squad for violation of probation/parole. Though he was on parole in the past, he completed it two years ago.
Upon noticing this, you would think his case would have been dismissed. Instead, due to a case he previously beat they kept him. The issue was for missing a court date he was never informed of. We followed up online to make sure he didn't have another court date.
We have all been impacted by covid19, and the prisons and jails have been hit the hardest -Rikers Island is no exception.
The facility is understaffed and overcrowded. Employees are forced to work triple shifts. While incarcerated he caught covid. Inmates are being denied visits, medical attention, access to the lower library, mental health, right to attourney, and many other of their rights are being denied.
Thankfully he made it out of quaranteen in time for his court date, but the fight isnt over yet. There are often times inmates are not seen at court and have no communication from a lawyer or anyone. Many have had to wait to receive medical care, are denied visits, communication, law library, and religious liberties.
