Almost one million Rohingya refugees live with squalor and disease in Bangladesh's refugee camps, some have been there for more than thirty years.  Many were born there and many have died from inadequate care and  despair. There is no sanitation, insufficient food and water, no proper shelter and no adequate medical facilities.  Children are not being educated. The camps are subject to flooding and landslides that have taken the lives of people and infants. There is no freedom of movement, only the continued persecution of innocent people. Over time, drugs, violence and human trafficking have made the camp a toxic environment for ordinary families. These families need urgent resettlement. Refugees are hard workers and they make very good citizens. Australia has one of the lowest intakes of refugees, with the poorer countries welcoming the most needy.  Please ask the Australian Government to increase its refugee intake and to prioritize those who have suffered the longest and who are in desperate need of help.
