Cherokee Bears zoos/pits will not be shut down
Apr 12, 2013 —
Hello to everyone,
Currently the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) Tribal Council will not be shutting down the bear pits/zoos and the Cherokee people will not be allowed to vote on the resolution.
Cheryl and I are working on a plan of action for the Cherokee bear situation. Please hold off any individual action until the first of next week.
The NC General Assembly and the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission (NCWRC) do not have any jurisdiction over the closing of the bear pits/zoos on the Eastern Band Of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) reservation. The EBCI is a sovereign nation and governs itself.
On Wedensday I (Millie) will send emails and post all requested actions to everyone. Thank you so very much for your support.
