Petition of Regatta Sailors to
 World Sailing – Member National Authorities – Regatta Organisers
 
It is not right to exclude sailors and race officials from Russia and Belarusia  in  international sailing regattas, only because of their nationality and the war in Ukraine. 

Reason:
To exclude sailors or race officials due to their national origin is a breach of 
World Sailing Constitution (Aims Of World Sailing, lit.b and Obligations Of Membership,  no. 7) 
AIMS OF WORLD SAILING, lit b 
"The objects and aims for which World Sailing, as the controlling authority of the sport of sailing in all its forms throughout the world, is established are: 
(a)…. 
(b)  to promote the sport of sailing in all its branches regardless of …......... national….....status;" 
OBLIGATIONS OF MEMBERSHIP, no.7 
"It shall be the obligation of all World Sailing Members to ensure that there shall be no discrimination on the grounds set out in Aims of the Constitution (lit.b) against any competitor."

The Russian invasion into Ukraine and its war in this country is a brutal breach of all rules and shall be sharply rejected.

But politics and sport are different things and shall be separated. Sports/women/-men are not responsible for the disaster created by Russia in Ukraine.

It is not right and unfair to exclude Russians and Belarusians from their international sailing activities, only because of their nationality and the war in Ukraine. The sailing sport shall be free for everyone, regardless of her/his nationality.

The sport, open for sports/women/-men from all nations, has contributed in the past very much for more peace in our world.
