Dear Students, Faculty, Friends and Family,

This petition is calling on key leaders at The University of Alabama to stand up and call for change to either do away with charging student’s for parking or significantly discount their prices.

PPS (Price per space) here at all commuter lots is $345

Our biggest rival, University of Auburn has their commuter lots prices set to $180 PPS

AUM (Auburn at Montgomery) a satellite school for Auburn only charges $25

If the price of parking passes are lowered it may encourage more students to drive to school. It may also avoid students from parking illegally to avoid far walking distances. Students aren’t offered many free parking spaces around the campus. Therefore students resort to parking on private business and local neighborhood streets, sometimes creating conflict.

I understand that The University of Alabama is a prestigious University but students already have to pay so much between tuition, housing, books, meal plans, random fees etc…

I’m an in-state student at The University of Alabama and pay close to 15k per year, parking excluded.
