Free NZ army decorated soldier who has fought along side Australian troops in afghanistan. Loving father of 2 and also a step father, mine worker and a man respected and loved by all who know him for his integrity and honesty.
Former Lance Corporal Ngati Kanohi Te Eke Haapu, better known as Ko Rutene, is held in a maximum security prison in Perth and has had his visa revoked on "character" grounds for associating with a Perth motorcycle club. He is due to be deported to NZ and be stripped from his family, friends and place he calls home.
This is disgusting and racist treatment of a man who has served his country risking his life on a daily basis and is said by all his friends someone they look up to and respect for the way he conducts himself. 100% not a bad character in any aspect of his life. In a modern, free, democratic country like Australia this is unjust.
