The current policy for street parking in Hamilton Ontario is to charge and ticket motorcycles and scooters the same as cars despite their smaller footprint. It is time for a fair approach. We believe that motorcycles and scooters should not have to pay for street parking. We must promote the use of vehicles downtown that have a smaller footprint. It is unfair that a vehicle that is one tenth the size of a truck should pay the same amount. We would like to see a policy like Toronto. The tickets also blow away often.

Current policy in Toronto: “Operators of motorcycles will benefit from a decision to give them free parking on Toronto streets. Council agreed to amend City bylaws in order to exempt motorcycles from parking fees at on-street parking meters/machines. The rationale is that parking receipts tend to disappear from parked motorcycles, resulting in unwarranted parking fines.”
