Many of us has been through DV in the past. We know how traumatising it can be.

I know many have escaped and done it alone and I'm so glad to hear you are safe.

I'm doing this petition to support others, it's hard enough to get out of these situations as it is but even harder when we can't afford lawyers/ representation.

Recently a person close to me escaped Domestic Violence.

As many have experienced, leaving or removing the offender is not only a hard step to take but its only the first step.

Many things then follow for example, AVO ( restraining order) , access if children are involved, finances etc. 

Often both parties need legal representation / Lawyer/ solicitor, which can be very expensive.

Free representation from what i know only comes for some on very low income.

Its usually means/ income tested. But seriously earning on paper is not accurate. In the case im thinking of the offender cleaned the bank out which means the victim had some financial catching up to do and couldnt afford the Lawyers quote.

I know there are great lawyers out there who do pro bono but y outlook is for an organization funded by our government and made known.
