As you read this Nasrin Sotoudeh, an internationally recognized human rights activist and lawyer, is imprisoned after two grossly unfair trials.

She has reportedly been sentenced to 38 years in prison and 148 lashes, for peacefully defending human rights, including women who were arrested for removing their hijabs to protest the mandatory dress code in Iran. Any prison term for defending human rights is a serious violation of Iran’s international obligations.

Nasrin is not a criminal, but a hero who time and time again has protected others from Iran’s oppressive regime. She has tirelessly defended the rights of women and political prisoners.

She has helped so many people, now she needs our help!

Please join me in asking the United Nations to continue their pressure on the Iranian government to release Nasrin Sotoudeh. Her freedom means much more than justice for an individual. It means hope for the countless people being unjustly persecuted in Iran. Every signature counts and brings Nasrin one step closer to freedom.
