Why this petition matters

Started by Dwayne's Sister

It is so important to have your support at this time because Dwayne currently has a Motion for Leave to File New Trial pending.

As a result of his motion being granted, he is awaiting a hearing date.

We believe that we have a fair Judge who will consider without bias, and we want our full support for Dwayne represented as well.

By signing this petition and joining in our advocacy for Dwayne, we are demonstrating to the Judge and the whole judicial system, that these types of injustices have to stop.

Our goal is to bring awareness to all with Dwayne Brooks. Dwayne Brooks is innocent, wrongfully convicted and it is beyond time for him to be released.

We believe that there is never a wrong time to do the right thing and we know that people have the power to effect positive change.

After many years of being advised that they did not exist, Dwayne was by the Grace of God finally able to obtain copies of the original police reports from his case.

Upon careful review of the initial reports, key witness statements were found, supporting the fact that Dwayne had nothing to do with this incident. Further, cross-referencing the police reports with the original trial transcripts, several Errors and Omissions of Justice for Dwayne become evident.

In Dwayne's trial, the original police reports, along with all supporting evidence for or against Dwayne was requested from the prosecution by his defense team.

Makes sense by law, right? We have a basic right to have access to evidence for which we are accused, right?

Here begins the very first of many Errors and Omissions of Justice in the case of The State of Ohio v. Dwayne Brooks.

The request for all evidence/material related to this matter was formally denied.

Dwayne had no knowledge of what had occurred for he which he was being charged, nor the future chain of events to unfold in his life. He was being accused of murder and facing the death penalty at barely age 22, while being denied a basic right to evidence that could, would and did support his innocence.

EXCULPATORY EVIDENCE, that would clear him of any wrongdoing.

Evidence, being used to convict him.

Evidence, that a jury would need to fully understand and consider the matter of someone's life.

Evidence, that would allow the victims' family to know the truth.

Evidence, that the prosecution had in their possession all along.

Evidence, that the prosecution has an obligation and is duty bound to provide as a matter of Justice for All.

Evidence, that Dwayne Brooks' legal team had a legal right to have in his defense.

The prosecution was not only seeking a conviction, but a death penalty in this case, all while successfully suppressing the EVIDENCE providing the truth.

This can no longer be tolerated in our judicial systems. Justice should be afforded to all regardless of race, creed, color, gender or species.

Please feel free to read in depth for yourself what happened to Dwayne Brooks (Cuyahoga County Court Docket CR-88-230828), and to understand why it happened because if it happened to him, it could happen to anyone.

Kindly join us in our campaign to #FreeDwayneBrooks by signing this petition to express your support as we seek #JusticeforDwayneBrooks.
