There is bad fuel circulating around the country of Belize and nobody is talking about this very serious problem.  This petition seeks to bring awareness to every citizen who is a potential victim of this problem.  To inform the elected officials of government that awareness is being generated and a solution is necessary.  Finally that a solution is available and action is required.

Due to the increasing cost of fuel some people are downsizing to motorcycles.  It has become increasingly evident that as the cost of fuel has risen so has the number of occurrences of bad fuel causing temporary engine failure.  If it is not happened already engine failure due to bad fuel can be hazardous at high speeds and may cause an accident.  Vehicle owners may not be aware of the issue as their engines can manage the fluctuations of fuel, but eventually they may have to pay an unwanted mechanic bill.  This is a very serious issue and every motorist is a potential victim.  

Help petition to make our elected officials aware of this issue.  Currently the Belize Bureau of Standards has a brand new laboratory building but lacks the equipment to conduct the necessary testing.   Everytime they take samples from one location they have to go through approvals before the samples can be taken.  By then because fuel is a revolving inventory the bad fuel may no longer be evident.  It also costs in the ball park of $20,000 to send samples from one location to outside of the country for testing. The equipment necessary from my understanding costs somewhere between $250,000 and $300,000.  Supposedly there is a fund that had been established some time back to accumulate money to procure the equipment needed.  If this is true why is the Belize Bureau of standards not conducting weekly testing already.  If there isn't money readily available then efforts need to be made to find the funding.

Help petition for better fuel.  We pay top dollar for fuel in this country and we deserve to feel like preferred customers.  The least the government can do is ensure we get the best. This is possible by procuring the equipment being requested by the Belize Bureau of Standards to conduct weekly testing .
