The Frederick High School tennis courts have been consistently locked since they were constructed a few years ago. This has been a major disappointment to the tennis community of Frederick, and many people wish that they were unlocked for the public. Virtually, all FCPS owned tennis courts in Frederick County are unlocked and open for the public, except Frederick High. The high school is located in a safe area of Baker Park, and vandalism is definitely not a concern. Besides, if anyone wanted to vandalize the tennis courts, they could just hop over the fence. I believe a better compromise would be to leave them open, put up a sign that clearly states the rules, and enforcing consequences for anyone who violates them. I hope Frederick High School and FCPS will take my idea into consideration, as this would be a wonderful thing.
