Luke Atelsek started this petition to Frederick County Public Schools

It has recently come to many students attentions that our google profile pictures have been removed with no apparent reason, this is frustrating because nearly all of the images were school appropriate and coincided with the guidelines lain out for us by our teachers and school staff. We acknowledge that some students did not follow these rules, but it is not appropriate to punish the many for the actions of the few. As stated in the fourth Geneva Convention, "No protected person may be punished for any offense he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited...". Distance learning has made it very difficult for students to socialize and express themselves, our profile pictures were a chance for us for us to share our interests, art projects, or sense of humor (especially for those who are not comfortable with using their camera during class). We do think that action is necessary for those who violated the rules, but the overwhelming majority did not. By signing this position you are saying that you support the profile pictures, and believe it was unjust to remove them, you are also pledging that if the option to customize your profile pictures is re-established, that you will keep them school appropriate and follow any regulations put in place by the F.C.P.S. staff. Thank you.
